Trimmer or cutter?
The Audio Trimmer removes audio from the beginning and end — ideal for many files that need the same treatment, like removing a 5-second intro from a podcast series or the silence before and after voice recordings.
If you need to take a part out of the middle, or want to make a ringtone from a single song, use the Audio Cutter instead.
Automatic trimming looks for the first and last sound louder than the threshold. If the trim is too aggressive, lower the threshold (e.g. −60 dB); if hiss or room noise prevents trimming, raise it (e.g. −40 dB).
Examples
| Task | Setting |
|---|---|
| Remove a 4 s intro jingle from every episode | Remove from start: 4 s |
| Cut the last 10 s (outro) | Remove from end: 10 s |
| Remove silence before and after recordings | Auto trim on, −50 dB |
| Smooth ending | Fade out: 2 s |
Tips
- Remove pauses inside recordings with the Silence Remover.
- Combine trimmed files into one with the Audio Joiner.
- Check the total duration of many files with the Audio Duration Calculator.
- Even out the loudness with the Volume Normalizer.

Can’t find your answer? Contact us — we reply quickly.
How do I trim the beginning of an audio file?
Enter the number of seconds under “Remove from start”, or click “Set range” on the file and drag the start handle. Then click “Trim”.
Can I trim many files at once?
Yes. The numbers apply to every file in the list; you can still adjust individual files with “Set range”.
How does automatic trimming work?
The tool finds the first and last moment that is louder than the threshold and removes the silence before and after it.
Does trimming reduce quality?
WAV and FLAC are trimmed losslessly; MP3, M4A and OGG are re-encoded at a bitrate matching the original, which is practically inaudible.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Trimming happens entirely in your browser.
