How age is counted
In most of the world, age is counted in completed years: you are 0 until your first birthday and gain a year on each anniversary of your birth. For the exact age, count full years first, then full months since the last birthday, then the remaining days. From 15 May 1990 to 5 October 2026 that is 36 years, 4 months and 20 days.
Months have different lengths, so “years, months, days” depends on the calendar path, while the total number of days is unambiguous — 13,292 days in the example. That is why contracts, visas and medical guidelines usually specify either completed years or an exact number of days.
People born on 29 February have a real birthday only in leap years. In common years this calculator, like the law in many countries including the UK, treats 1 March as the day the new age is reached; some jurisdictions use 28 February instead. Traditional East Asian age reckoning counted a newborn as 1 and added a year at New Year; South Korea switched to the international system for official use in 2023.

How do I calculate my exact age?
Subtract your date of birth from today’s date: count the completed years, then the completed months since your last birthday, then the remaining days. The calculator does this instantly and without calendar mistakes.
How old will I be on a future date?
Change “Age on this date” to the date you are interested in. The result shows the age you will have reached on that day.
How many days old am I?
The row “In days” shows the total number of days from your birth to the reference date, including leap days.
How is age calculated for someone born on 29 February?
In leap years the birthday is 29 February. In other years the calculator counts the new age from 1 March, the first day after the missing date.
On which weekday was I born?
The result shows the weekday of your date of birth, calculated with the Gregorian calendar.
Is my date of birth stored?
No. It is used in your browser for the calculation only. It is not saved on your device and never sent to a server.
