This image is smaller than 256 px, so the large app icons may look soft. Use a bigger image or an SVG if you have one.
One or two characters stay readable at 16 px.

Which favicon sizes and files does a website need in 2026?
A favicon is the small icon browsers show in tabs, bookmarks and history, and that Google shows next to your site in search results. Years ago one 16 × 16 favicon.ico was enough. Today the icon also appears on phone home screens, in installed web apps and on high-resolution displays, so a site needs a small set of files rather than a single one.
The modern minimum is short: a favicon.ico containing 16, 32 and 48 px for older browsers and tools, an SVG or a PNG of at least 96 px for sharp tabs and for Google Search (which asks for a square icon whose size is a multiple of 48 px), a 180 × 180 Apple touch icon for iPhone and iPad, and 192 and 512 px icons listed in a site.webmanifest for Android and installed web apps.
Two details are easy to miss. iOS does not support transparency in home-screen icons and fills transparent areas with black, so the Apple touch icon should have a solid background. Android may crop icons into a circle or rounded square; a maskable icon keeps the important part inside the central 80 % so that nothing is cut off. This generator handles both automatically.

Tips
- Start from a square image of 512 px or more, or an SVG. If your logo is larger or not square, prepare it with the Image Resizer.
- A detailed logo turns into a blur at 16 px. Use only the symbol or the first letter for the favicon and keep the full logo for the header.
- While you are adding icons, create the matching share image for social networks with the OG Image Generator.
- Logo on a white or coloured box? Cut it out first with the Image Background Remover to get a transparent favicon.

What size should a favicon be?
There is no single size any more. Browsers use 16 to 48 px, Google Search wants a multiple of 48 px, iOS uses 180 px and Android 192 and 512 px. The package contains all of them.
Do I still need a favicon.ico file?
Yes, as a fallback. Some browsers, feed readers and tools request /favicon.ico directly, so keeping the file in the root folder avoids missing-icon errors.
Where do I upload the favicon files?
Put them in the root folder of your website, next to your home page, and paste the generated HTML inside the <head> of every page. If you use another folder, enter it under “Folder of the icons”.
Why does my new favicon not show up?
Browsers cache favicons for a long time. Open the icon address directly, reload it, or test in a private window. Google can take several days to weeks to update the icon in search results.
Can I make a favicon from text or an emoji?
Yes. Choose “Letters” or “Emoji”, set the colours and shape, and the generator also creates a small SVG favicon that stays sharp at every size.
Is my logo uploaded to a server?
No. The icons are generated in your browser and the ZIP file is created on your device. The logo is never uploaded or stored.
