Extra properties kept as they are
These properties came from the imported code. The form has no field for them, so they are written to the output unchanged.
Schemas in this code
Need more than one schema on a page, for example an article with breadcrumbs and your organization? Finish the current one, then add the next. They are combined in one @graph block.
Import existing JSON-LD
The type is detected automatically. Properties the form does not know are kept and written back unchanged. Nothing is uploaded.
Check
JSON-LD code
Paste the code into the <head> or <body> of your page. Characters that could end the script block are escaped, so the code is safe to embed as it is.
How to generate schema markup
The code is rebuilt with every change.
- 1
Choose a schema type
Search or pick from the list: article, product, FAQ page, recipe, local business, event, job posting, breadcrumbs and more.
- 2
Fill in the form
Required and recommended fields are marked. The check lists what is missing or wrong and jumps to the field. Use the sample to see a complete example.
- 3
Copy the code
Copy the JSON-LD or download it as schema.json or schema.html, then paste it into the <code><head></code> or <code><body></code> of your page.
Structured data without hand-written JSON
Vocabulary from schema.org, written as JSON-LD.
17 types, many subtypes
Article, FAQ page, How-to, Recipe, Video, Book, Course, Product, Review, Software app, Local business, Organization, Person, Job posting, Event, Website and Breadcrumbs.
Check while you type
Reports missing required fields, wrong URLs and dates, a price without currency, ratings out of range and invalid GTIN or ISBN check digits.
Local business details
More than 50 kinds of business, address, coordinates and opening hours for each day, including a second time range for a lunch break.
Several schemas in one block
Finish one schema, add the next — for example an article with breadcrumbs and your organization. They are combined in a single <code>@graph</code>.
Import existing JSON-LD
Paste code with or without the script tag. The type is detected, and properties the form has no field for are kept and written back unchanged.
Safe to embed
Output with or without the <code><script></code> tag, pretty-printed or minified. Characters that could end the script block are escaped.
Private by design
Everything runs in your browser. What you type, paste or open is not sent to a server.

What schema markup is and what it can do
Schema markup, or structured data, describes the content of a page in a form machines can read without guessing: this is a product, it costs 49.99 dollars, it is in stock, 212 people rated it 4.6. The vocabulary comes from schema.org, a project founded by the large search engines. Search engines use the data to understand a page and, for some types, to show rich results — star ratings, prices, recipe times, event dates or a breadcrumb trail instead of the plain address.
The markup can be written as JSON-LD, Microdata or RDFa. JSON-LD is the format Google recommends: one <script type="application/ld+json"> block that is separate from the visible HTML and easy to maintain. It may stand in the head or in the body. Each type has required properties, without which no rich result is possible, and recommended ones that make the result more complete. Structured data is not a ranking factor in itself, and a rich result is never guaranteed, even when the code is valid.
Common mistakes: marking up content that visitors cannot see on the page, such as invented ratings — a violation of Google’s guidelines; a price without a currency; dates without a time zone; relative addresses for images; and ratings a business gives itself. Also check whether a type still earns a rich result. Google limited FAQ results to well-known government and health sites in 2023 and stopped showing How-to results the same year. Such markup remains valid schema.org and can be read by other services.
Popular schema types and their rich results
| Type | Use it for | Possible result in Google |
|---|---|---|
| Article | News, blog posts, guides | Headline, image and date in news and article features |
| Product | A single product page | Price, availability and star rating |
| LocalBusiness | A shop, restaurant or practice | Details for the business in local results |
| BreadcrumbList | The position of a page in the site | Breadcrumb trail instead of the address |
| Recipe | A recipe with ingredients and steps | Image, rating and cooking time |
| Event | A concert, course date or webinar | Date, place and ticket link |
Tips
- Check or tidy the generated code, or code from another source, with the JSON Formatter.
- Structured data comes on top of the basics: write title, description and canonical with the Meta Tag Generator.
- Add the tags for link previews with the Open Graph Generator and list your pages for crawlers with the Sitemap Generator.
- After publishing, test the live page with the rich results test of the search engine. It shows whether the markup is found and which rich results the page is eligible for.

What is schema markup?
Code that describes the content of a page in a standard vocabulary from schema.org, so that search engines can read facts such as price, author, opening hours or event date reliably. It is usually added as a JSON-LD block.
Where do I put the JSON-LD code?
Anywhere in the HTML of the page it describes: in the <head> or in the <body>. Paste the complete block including the <script type="application/ld+json"> tag. Many content management systems have a field or plugin for it.
Does schema markup improve rankings?
Not directly. Google has said that structured data is not a general ranking factor. It helps search engines understand the page and can make a result more visible through rich results, which may raise the click rate.
Why does my page not show rich results?
Valid markup makes a page eligible, but the search engine decides. Common reasons are missing required properties, markup that does not match the visible content, a type that no longer has a rich result, or a page that is new and not yet processed.
Can I use more than one schema on a page?
Yes. A page can describe several things, for example an article, its breadcrumb trail and the publishing organization. This tool combines them in one @graph block; separate script blocks work as well.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input is not uploaded, logged or stored on our servers.
